Artist Statement

We are a mother-daughter team dedicated to revealing the extraordinary beauty in the small, often overlooked, everyday wonders of life. Our focus is on the micro-flower blooms of Michigan—tiny, delicate flowers that grow beneath our feet that are often something people go a lifetime stepping on, but never truly noticing.

Janice, a retired teacher inspired by the natural beauty of Michigan, discovered these hidden gems during her daily walks with her pup, Ado. Noticing the stunning vibrant colors and intricate patterns of these minuscule blooms—many no larger than a fraction of a dime—she envisioned showcasing their beauty in a new light.

Through a combination of detailed macro-photography and watercolor paintings, we aim to celebrate these micro-Michigan blooms and encourage viewers to appreciate the small wonders that surround us. Our work is an invitation to slow down and notice the hidden beauty that lies right under our toes, often overlooked in the rush of daily life.

More on our Michigan Micro-Flowers

All the flowers we selected are no larger than a dime, with some even tinier. When people walk through the grass, most pass by without ever noticing them.
